Since 1977, Ron has made his home in Chapel Hill, where he was the morning voice of 97.9 FM and 1360 AM WCHL, before retiring at the end of 2020.  He hosted the morning show during that time—plus, voiced countless commercial ads, station promos, and served as host for WCHL’s award-winning pre-game football show, “Countdown to Kickoff,” for more than 40 years.  Listeners also recognize Ron as Master of Ceremonies for literally hundreds of local events.  He has even been Grand Marshall for holiday parades in the area. There have been several “Ron Stutts Days” over the years, and a number of awards for his community service, including the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the local Chamber of Commerce.  In fact, Ron is the only two-time recipient of that special honor!

 

Ron Stutts has been honored as “North Carolina Radio Personality of the Year” an unprecedented five times, by the NC Association of Broadcasters!

 

Ron has been heard in a myriad of ways outside his home community, and has served as the station “voice” for other broadcasters, some even outside the state of N.C.  He has provided the narration for a variety of video presentations for businesses and organizations, as well, both for entertainment and instructional purposes.

 

For years, Ron has been co-host of “The Financial Symphony,” and other similarly named radio shows and podcasts, all over the country.  These are conversations with financial experts about retirement planning.  These financial programs air in numerous states, including Florida, Georgia, Arizona, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Louisiana, Virginia, California, and, of course, North Carolina.  Some of these shows are tied closely to Ron’s knowledge of music and sports.
